What is a Pilgrimage? And where am I going? This might help explain the title of this blog.
- pil·grim·age (pĭl'grə-mĭj) - A journey to a sacred place
- Ti·ber (tī'bər) - A river of central Italy flowing about 406 km (252 mi) south and southwest through Rome to the Tyrrhenian Sea at Ostia.
- Galilee, Sea of or Lake Ti·be·ri·as (tī-bîr'ē-əs) - A freshwater lake of northeast Israel. About 214 m (700 ft) below sea level, it is fed and drained by the Jordan River.
I leave Vancity on May 4th, 2010 for Rome (4 days), Jerusalem (18 days) and the Sea of Galilee (4 days). To be honest, I'm not really sure what to expect. I look forward to exploring Rome, eating real pizza, seeing the Holy Land, learning about Middle-Eastern politics and history, and walking along the shore of Galilee - but I will be away from home for almost a month. I already miss my girls... and I haven't even left yet!
I will try to consistently chronicle my somewhat maniacal musings on this blog (or at the very least, some photos of my adventure!). Please stop by, comment, and say "hi!"
